Calibrating your ohmSTAR or ohmSTAR+
We recommend calibrating your box every 2 years. You have two options: do it yourself with the free Companion app and your own meter, or send it to us.

Calibrate it yourself
The Companion's calibration bench is tried and true. Everything you need to do it yourself, from the meter and leads to reading the result, is in a printable manual in our Resources library.
Order a calibration from us
We calibrate your box and return it with a certificate. Every calibration is NIST traceable: your box is measured against reference standards whose calibrations trace back to NIST.

Shipping: you send your box to us; we ship it back free.
How it works
- Order and pay. Click your model above. Stripe handles the payment securely, and you'll get an email confirmation. Please give the box's serial number in the order if you have it.
- Pack it. Use a sturdy box with plenty of padding. Include a copy of your order confirmation and a return address.
- Ship it to: LabMetric, 10632 N Scottsdale Rd, B417, Scottsdale, AZ 85254
- We calibrate it. The turnaround is 5–7 business days from when your box arrives.
- You get it back with your certificate. If the box has firmware 7.x, its serial number, calibration date, due date and signed calibration sheet are stored on it too.
If your box needs a repair, we'll contact you before doing any work you haven't agreed to.
Common questions
How often should I calibrate?
We recommend every 2 years. Your own quality system or auditor may require a different schedule, and theirs comes first.
Can I use a different meter?
Not yet. The app only supports the 34401A today.
Where's my box's serial number?
On firmware 7.x, the box stores it. Open its About screen, or plug it in and look at This box on the Companion's Device page. Older firmware can't store one.
How do I check when my box is due?
On firmware 7.x, the About screen shows the due date, and the Companion app warns you when it's close or past.
Will a calibration erase my tables?
No. Calibration only changes the calibration values, plus the serial number, dates and sheet described above. Your tables stay as they are.
What if a calibration goes wrong?
The app saves the earlier values before it changes anything, and you can put them back with Restore. If you're stuck, email us.
